Whats Happening around Town..
Collaboration with Armadale Police Station
During the COVID19 CRISIS
Care Packages were made up by Salt and Light and collaborating with local community departments in Armadale.
In most instances the Police are the first responders to crisis homes. With social isolation of families at this time many women, children and elderly are at risk. For some, their home is not their safe haven. Domestic violence, abuse and victims of local crime. These care packages are to serve our local community at a time where everyone is in need. May they bless the homes of everyone who receive the packages and the officers who deliver them. In Jesus name.
“fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
The count down begins to our first luncheon, come along and connect with women and mothers who are valued.

OUR TIME LINE: DAY DOT – 2017
Starting our journey and listening to the call Salt & Light was born mid 2017. This year saw us step out in faith to be the change, however big or small that may look like. Small fundraisers of lollie jar raffles, guess the sweets, “uber eats” food deliveries to work places and raising awareness of destitute families in our own home town in Durban. A little park in the corner of a town that everyone passes by. Unaware of the heartache and poverty of what lies in the midst, so close. People with dignity were out on the street with no homes, no running water, no electricity and living a dangerous life in what many modern families would call squalor, shanty town, shack dwellers, squatters or commonly known to locals as “Mjondolos” . A myriad of makeshift Homes made from any material they can find. This in a community where everyone lives in poverty, facing shack fires, flooding and adverse health conditions.
Our hearts saw theirs and the rest is history……..
2018 – Salt and Light Australia grows
After a successful hamper handout operation, the volunteers among family members increased and Salt and light really started putting questions to peoples hearts.
Flooding in of help, hands, coordinators and funds to assist for the year ahead made a job so hard become a job for willing warriors. No doubt without the outstretched arms of our donators, volunteers and intercessors 2018 would never have seen such growth.
The extension of a small Christmas project of our family headed up by Sherman was soon to be the blueprint of a new community initiative. From 2012 as a family we raised funds each Christmas period by celebrating Christmas in a more simplified way, no extravagance and a few fundraisers – using that money to buy uniforms and assist orphans in remote areas of Africa
Christmas hamper deliveries for a target of 50 families was our goal
